About

Re:Generation Land Commons is a registered non-profit organization and Land cooperative project in the Saskatoon, SK area that focuses on community development and regenerative Land management (ie: regenerative agriculture, horticulture, permaculture, rewilding, etc).

Mission

Our long term intention is to bring together a group of shareholders to pool financial resources and acquire the title to an appropriate piece of Land. We recognize the importance of assembling a diverse group with a variety of backgrounds, skills, knowledge and experience, in order to establish a firm foundation for the project to move forward on. This first phase will revolve around outreach to potential shareholders, relationship building between those who have expressed interest in the project, and the first steps of a broad visioning process to ensure that everyone involved has meaningful input.

Collective Land acquisition and regenerative Land management

With the right group of shareholders in place, we propose to acquire a 20-40 acre plot of Land within 30-60 minutes of Saskatoon. With secure tenure to the Land, shareholders may then implement regenerative practices or businesses on the Land without the added financial pressure of a mortgage or rent. This stage will also involve continued visioning and planning, with foundations being laid for initial investments in collectively held infrastructure (designs, fundraising, etc.).

Vision

We envision an interrelated web of regenerative activities on our shared Land, potentially including but not limited to bio-intensive gardens, holistic animal husbandry, passive solar greenhouses, permaculture orchards, etc, that form a self-sufficient, ecologically responsive community.

We would propose a blend of shared and privately held resources, as well as a collection of sustainable permanent structures and humble dwellings on this shared Land. These could potentially include a shared cookhouse and dancehall, shared tool shop, storehouses, composting infrastructure, greenhouses, etc.

As we grow, we envision strong public outreach and education, as well as collaboration with outside institutions and Indigenous Nations. While we have put a lot of effort into the visioning process, the long-term scope of the project is intended to be shaped by the shareholders as a collective, and we expect this vision to evolve over time.

Long Term Vision: A replicable model.

The ability for human culture to address the challenges of the 21st Century (and beyond) hinges on our success in implementing viable alternatives to exploitive capitalism, and colonial extraction. It is our intention for Re:Generation Land Commons to serve as such a viable alternative, and to educate and inspire others to follow in our footsteps. Through our systems of outreach and education, as well as the process of blazing a regulatory pathway, we intend to participate in planting the seeds for the widespread adoption of Land based, regenerative human culture.
